Gold Mine East of the Mississippi River!

More than one thousand men and women are building a world-class gold mine in Lancaster County and the world is watching.  Oceanagold’s Haile operation will be the only operating gold mine east of the Mississippi River.  “We are on target to conclude construction by the first quarter of 2017 and then celebrate our first gold pour,” said David Thomas, vice president and general manager of the Haile operation.  “We plan to celebrate with the local community.”

With a capital investment of $380 million, the Haile team is transforming a 200-year old mine site into a state-of-the-art facility.  Some key highlights so far:

  • Employing 1050 as of August 2016
  • 89% of employees live in Lancaster County and the surrounding communities
  • Spending more than $3,000,000/month in the local community
  • Annual economic impact in Lancaster County = $70,000,000

The Haile team is also committed to be active community partners.  Employees are donating hundreds of hours to local schools, community and civic organizations.  “We wouldn’t be here without the support of the community,” said Beverly Adams (EA to VP) and Lancaster County Chamber board member. “And as we invest in our community, we often feel like we are the ones being blessed.”

Oceanagold’s core values are respect, integrity, teamwork, innovation, action and accountability. “We adhere to these core values as we provide good jobs with long-term opportunity in Lancaster County,” said Thomas.
